A useful starting point
A tool is easy to lose when every compartment seems equally plausible. Choose one home for line cutters and other small accessories, then keep that location consistent. The aim is a quicker inventory, not a larger collection. Secure sharp tools and keep them away from children during sorting.
Try this sequence
- List the accessories you actually took last time
- Assign each one a single storage position
- Use an enclosure for sharp or loose parts
- Check the positions again while packing away
A small worked example
After sorting, ask someone familiar with the kit to find an enclosed accessory using only the labels. If the label is unclear, rewrite it. You are testing the storage description, not asking them to handle a sharp item or to operate equipment they do not know.
What to keep in your notes
Photographs can help recall the task but may omit the route, conditions or equipment labels. Pair an image with the specific note it supports. Keep irrelevant assumptions out of the caption, and do not treat an attractive frame as confirmation that a place or method is suitable.
